Nice choice Geir - love the colour.  (I have an Olympic white strat with maple fretboard although its turned a lovely creamy white over the 30 years since I bought it. One of the first Japanese Squiers) Listened to your first recording and it sounds awesome.

I've never had a "big name" branded guitar only Squiers and Epiphones, so this year Mrs C has very generously offered me a Fender or Gibson branded guitar! I love my old Squier Strat and I also have an Epiphone Elitist series Les Paul (the high quality Japanese models) so I've decided to go for a Tele for a different sound.

Only condition is that she wants me to have a blue one.  So I said fair enough as long as its got a maple board and two single coils.

Its due to arrive next week - can't wait.  Apart from my Squier P Bass its my first new guitar for over 10 years. Can't wait !!

Or, "Do I need a girlfriend? And what would be the best one to get?"

Maybe that's for a different site?   ;)

I read 64Guitars post and would just like to say that I love my Strat. I had the cash for an expensive one and ended up with a MIM because it fit me so much better. But I played a dozen before I found her. No matter the guitar, play a lot of them to find the one that fits you

Tele's are great and, imo, are for more than country twang. Tab Benoit proves that blues and blues/rock might belong on a tele as much as any other guitar. If you are into Alternative Country it's perfect, too. I'd play as many tele's and tele copies as possible. Another option if you want the perfect tele-style guitar is checking out Creston guitars. But they are expensive. http://crestonguitars.com/guitars

Brian Henneman of the Bottle Rockets got his Rick two years ago and has nothing but great things to say about it. And he was a tele player before that. If you want *that* sound then there really isn't a better guitar. But those, too, are expensive.

And after all that, I bought a cheap, used LP copy (Greg Bennett guitar) and like it a lot. It's the first Gibson or Gibson copy that I liked.
