Shuffling live as I type this so it could end up being very embarrassing!

1) Devil Inside - INXS
2) Thunder in My Heart  - Leo Sayer (Anthems Disco)  :-[
3) Go Buddy Go - The Stranglers
4) Concrete Jungle - The Specials
5) Keep on Jumpin - Musique (Anthems Disco)   :-\

In my defence, I do like some Disco, but the only reason I have the full Anthems Disco collection on my i pod is for a bit of background music when our friends come round for a drink - the girls like it!  Seems my i pod does too.

I love Focus and hadn't heard of this song before so I wanted to check it out. But it turns out that it's not by the Dutch band Focus (Thijs van Leer, Jan Akkerman, etc.); it's by a UK band called Focus Three (Larry Steele, Liza Strike, and Tony Wilson) which formed in 1967. There are some videos of the song on YouTube but they're all blocked due to a copyright complaint by EMI. I can't find it anywhere else.

I thought it was THAT Focus too! Thought it was just an early / obscure track of theirs. It's on this very fine compilation...

The official track listing has it down as Focus 3, but the track tagging hasn't labelled it properly on my mp3 player  :)

ODH

It's been really interesting to see everyone's lists here, and especially to hear the stories with them.

And the great thing is you can do it again.  Here's todays five, listed as they come up.

1. Doubts Even Here - New Order (Movement)

The very early period of New Order is possibly my favorite.  I remember recording their first John Peel session before they'd released anything, it's still my favorite work of theirs.

2. Hug My Soul - Saint Etienne (Tiger Bay)

I like this track of theirs, they can be hit and miss.  Hot and cold.

3. In It for the Money - Supergrass (In It for the Money)

They've stood the test of time better than a lot of 90's Britpop bands, I think.  Even so I do tend to skip their tracks when they come up.

4. Ur Not Alone - Stripper (U Dun Know Dubstep)

A mate of mine in work is big into Dubstep and gave me a load of tracks which I put onto my iPod.  Guitly pleasure?  I'm intreagued by the technology and I'm always open to new styles. So, yes, I guess, although in small doses.  This is a cover of the 90's dance track, You're Not Alone, which is also on my pod somewhere.

5. As Heaven is Wide - Garbage (Garbage)

This Garbage album still sounds fresh and I really like it still.  Has stood the test of time better than Supergrass.

Must admit I considered skipping track 4, but I stayed true.  If I had the next track would've been Pump it Up - Elvis Costello.
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

T.C. Elliott

Decided to do round two. Still not Songcrafters (apparently I don't download enough) in the play list, but it is out of 26689 items, mostly songs, but some single file live recordings of shows etc stuck in there, too. Yeah, I spent too much time collecting music back when I was single The thousand cd's on the shelf fit in my external drive a lot easier.

1.  T.C. Elliott (that's me) - 50 songs in 90 days 2011 challenge - Song For Me
Listening back this isn't isn't too bad. It was written just to get the creative juices going again, I think. A song about writing for me instead of worrying about what others might think or writing to expectations. Sounds like a one mice, room recording and probably is.

2.  gerrybhoy - daft drawings and stupid songs - Giulia
A 50/90 challenger that I absolutely love. I like this collection. Simple arrangements (two guitars and vox) really showcase the emotive expression in his vocals. A song of yearning and longing.

3.  Robert Cray - Midnight Stroll - The Forecast (calls for pain)
This is one of my favorite blues songs from an under-rated blues singer/guitarist. This is the type of song I listen to when I need to sing in a higher range with a purer voice. It really puts me in the right "spot."  I've long since left my blues dominated listening patterns but this one brings back all the reasons I spent so much time there.

4.  Wilco - A.M. - Shouldn't Be Ashamed
One of my favorite Wilco albums (top two for sure, maybe one?) (yeah, probably #1) Not my favorite song from the album, but it's a good one nonetheless.

5.  The Mojo Roots - Thirteen Shades of Blue - The Way You've Been Kissing Me
A local blues band featuring a friend and songwriter as singer, harmonicist and guitar player. Okay, so I'm not completely out of the blues listening zone, I guess.

IanR

I just put a few more albums on the blackberry and did a random 5 to celebrate:

1. Rusty Cage - Soundgarden
2. Old Mission Road - Archie Roach (most of you will never have heard of him.  Check him out)
3. Locked Down - Dr John
4. Run, Pig, Run - Queens of the Stone Age
5. Not Enough - J Mascis

I was shitting myself at 4.  It couldn't get better BUT IT DID.  Wow, what a great set from a possible 3,801 songs.  There's lots of crap on there that could have been chosen.
