I haven't seen that show before but it looks like it might have been inspired by The Banana Splits which ran from 1968-1970 in North America. Its costumes and sets were designed by Sid and Marty Krofft.

Animal Kwackers were a total rip-off... a glam rock UK version of The Splits.

The Banana Splits were huge over here. I used to love those shows during the school holidays. Quite psychedelic and surreal :-)
