Mama Open Up

It started out so simple and got so.... far out of hand

making show biz out of what was fun

from the time I stopped my schooling and went out.... to start a band

I've been living... every minute... on the run

And I tried to be all that you hoped I'd be

Just because things went wrong don't run out on me

I need you......Mama open up...I'm comin' back to you...I don't like it out here no more

Mama open up...I'm comin' back to you...I don't like it out here no more

I'm over weight...I'm under paid...no one's beating with knocks on my door

Mama open up...I'm comin' back to you...I don't like it out here......

Hotel rooms and flying tombs...and food.... I couldn't chew

From the Fillmore.... to the White House.... chasing fame

I'm a nobody ask my records.... and my roof.... is leaking too

After all these years.... my life appears in vain

They still say just one hit and you're doing fine

But I'm bored with the game and I'm short on time

I want to end it...Mama open up...I'm comin' back to you...I don't like it out here no more

Mama open up...I'm comin' back to you...I don't like it out here no more

I'm over weight...I'm under paid...nooooooooooo.....

Mama..... open up...

Wow!  Jaw-dropping awesomeness.

I don't know the original but I love the song. I like the contrast between the hard-rockin' chorus and the softer verses. The vocals are spectacular. Nice range in pitch and dynamics. Great guitar playing too, and a cool solo at the end. The production is flawless. Radio-ready. This is my favourite of your songs and among my all-time favourites at Songcrafters.

Hey thanks ORH, Geir, Speed Demon, 64 Guitars, Tommy, and Jarle! I've always liked this song but never thought to record it. So the suggest fest worked on me. Thanks Jim and all for the suggestion and good comments! You know how to make an old rocker feel good.
