Popping back in for a second to share some sad news.  One of my favorite keys players George Duke passed away. Through Zappa, Cobham, Stanley Clarke, and Jean-Luc Ponty, he was always consistently stellar.  I think back to his boyish laughter when recounting touring with Frank on the Making of Overnite Sensation/Apostrophe DVD.

Damn shame.

Sad news indeed. Another awesome musician is gone but his music lives on. I have his 1977 "Reach For It" album on vinyl. Always loved the funky title song.

At Winter NAMM, January 26, 2013, George Duke was part of a panel discussing the past, present and future of MIDI. It's an interesting discussion.

Damn, that is one funky track. I'd heard of George Duke, but didn't know his music. RIP.

He plays with Stanley Clarke in "School Days", one of my favorite albums.
