Line in BR80

Hi folks. I have now acquired a Line 6 Pod XT bean shape at a very reasonable price of £40 and fully updated, considering these were £350 ish new that's not bad for an experiment. I also have a James Tyler Variax 69 ( more on that in the guitar area later) yes I know!!! ( It's not an experiment)

The XT unit has two trs 1/4 inch outputs for connecting to mixing desks/recorders, I think you can use one jack only for mono. In the manual it says the unit should be connected to the line in input of a recorder. So, can't it be connected by the 1/4 inch guitar input on the BR? I have never used line in for anything on the BR80 so have no idea what to do?

I have a mini jack lead which I can use with an adapter out of the one TRS jack. Is it necessary to use two, or will one do as I can still record in stereo using the BR line in? I thought I would try one of these highly regarded devices to use with the Variax before I go further into the HD series of pods. The XT may well do the job therefore saving me £300 to £500 for the HD pods.

One of the reasons for this new approach is getting the recording correct of guitars. I am struggling with the real amp recording due to volume issues in the house, also the the Boss cosm effects don't really get me where I want with the new Variax, so unless I move to a stately home I have to curtail the amp recording. I am hoping to get some kind of idea about how line 6 have improved their products since I last had the misfortune of using a spider amp. As I say, using the line in approach has confused me somewhat but I am sure it's not rocket science. However before I go plugging wires into places I have never plugged them into, I though it best to ask for advice.
Cheers.
Sweet young thing aint sweet no more.

You'll need one of these :

Also REMEMBER : turn the input volume to 0 !!! If you don't the microphones will be recorded as well (to the same stereo track)

Hi Geir and thanks. I can still record in mono though, can't I? You can use an output with one jack which is mono or am I missing something. I have ordered the item anyway. I tend to record individual tracks in mono most of the time.

Yes you can. I too mostly record guitar in mono. Just stay clear of the most extreme stereo effects. They will probably not sound that good in mono.
