Hi All,
Well, I'm new the micro br and to using it. I downloaded instruction yesterday on how to record, mix tracks together and convert to an mp3. Well, I tried all night to get drums into my song and I could not figure it out. Here is my song, can anyone help me out???
thanks so much in advance and thanks for any feedback. Let's see if I attached the song properly.

welcome to the "Hood"

i have to say your first post defies your screen name. and... i will say that this is an great first post, drums or not. excellent cover of Mr. Cash.

drums are a topic in and of itself. i'm doing my own method of madness to lay down my percussions. i'm also confident now that you have introduced yourself here, many of this forums finest will offer their assistance in all aspects of this magical silver box.

Thanks, that song is the first thing time I have ever recorded myself.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put the drums down first, then guitar, then voice and then mix OR if I am able to put drums in after everything is complete and then I couldn't find the instructions in the book (I must say, I think the manual is lacking in alot of areas). The instruction I got from the tutorila here are AWESOME and worked perfectly. I didn't erase any of the tracks, just in case I can go back and add the drums.

I just recently wrote a tutorial on arranging drums. Its posted under the rhythm section of the forum, hope it helps

i typically lay down a tempo track and build from there. if i lay down other instruments, bass - guitar - keyboards and my timing is off, it is much more difficult to back fill the drums.

but.... getting that all figured out is where the addiction sets in.

That's where I think I made my mistake, I didn't lay down the drums first and build from there, so tonight I'm going to record it again and put the drums down first and then follow the same process from the tutorial. thanks and yes it is addicting. But what a cool recorder.

You don't have to build a complete drum arrangement before you record your tracks, and you probably shouldn't in most cases. Instead, just select a suitable pattern and set the tempo as desired. Make a note of the tempo you used as it isn't saved in pattern mode. Now you can record your guitars, vocals, etc. in time to the rhythm. This will ensure that any drum arrangement you create later will be in sync with your music, provided that you set the tempo of each step in the arrangement to the same tempo you used for the pattern when you first recorded your music.

Better still, instead of starting your song in pattern mode, create an arrangement with just two steps. Set the first step to a suitable pattern and the tempo of the step as desired. Set the second step of the arrangement to pattern P327:BREAK and set the starting measure to the end of your song. If you don't yet know what the length of you song will be, just set it to some arbitrarily high value such as 200. This will ensure that step 1 plays sufficiently long for your song. You can edit step 2 later to change the starting value to the actual end of your song. The advantage of using this simple arrangement instead of pattern mode is that the tempo is saved with the arrangement. Also, you can refine the arrangement as you start recording tracks by inserting new steps to change patterns or add fills.
