Whenever I go visit my folks I bring my MBR with me. I keep my very first guitars, bass, a couple of cheap keyboards and some gear there which I love using to record little, lo-fi, noisy songs I usually compose on the spot.

This is what I have at my mom and dad's place:
- Academy Stratocaster replica, a very cheap guitar bought more than 15 years ago and really beaten up. Rusty pickups and (badly) tweaked electronics.
- Academy P-bass replica. My brother's friend bought it circa 1999 to learn bass playing, but abandoned it at my home shortly after. Sounds sexy, but it lacks the G-string (no pun intended!). It was completely broken until I "fixed" it a couple of years ago soldering here and there. It sounds mudy, dark, and gritty. Love it.
- An unbranded, old, rusty acoustic guitar.
- A Casiotone MT-70. Most Casio keyboards in the early 80s used square waves, but this one uses sine waves. Has a nice chimey sound, almost FM-like.

I'd like to show you some of the songs I craft at my folks' using the above mentioned gear. Again, sorry for the spanish lyrics.

Everything recorded in the MBR, mixed on the computer (ACID Pro). Drums are from Ez-drummer, I don't really like the drums in the MBR.

This song is really simple and just has a bass track, an electric guitar track, and acoustic guitar track and maybe a couple of vocal takes, all mixed together. There is no track limit when mixing in your computer, so the 4 tracks limitation in the MBR is not really a limitation for me.

Hope you enjoy this one.

This is awesome; really love it, what a great sound you're getting with those instruments, very catchy tune as well. Well done!

Oh I thought it was a great song, I loved the bass line and thought you've captured a great tone on the vox. I loved that the lyrics were in Spanish but thought they were a bit repetitive. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for listening!

Here's another. This one has two keyboard tracks, one of them recorded with a cleanish preset and the other one using the SQR TR preset (which I love for keyboards!). For thirds, a bass guitar track using my beloved VO COMP preset with a couple of tweaked values. Percussion is achieved by using a couple of very old, dirty loops which I blend together using the VTape saturator VSTI (works wonders, specially for blending drum tracks from separate sources!).

Hope you enjoy this one.

Greeny

Both great tracks. Lots of cool stuff going on, and some really slick mixing. Slightly prefer the second track (love that dirty drum loop) - but only just!

I'm with greeny here,I prefer the second track but they are both good songs.
Well done to you for putting out two cool tracks.

Great sound. Hats off to your production and songwriting skills.

Tangled Wires

Have only listened to the second one so far and it is excellent, I think I could listen to this just as an instrumental but the vocal just flows so naturally over it all.

Some cool beats in there, and a real masterclass in mixing and production
