Acoustic Effect

Hi There,

Does anyone know which effect is the best to play with an electro-acoustic guitar ? Are The Piezzo Effects (76 and 77) designed to do that ?

Thank you !

Bro

I dont know weather they are designed for it..
Its works fine for me..  :)
Else just plug it in without any effects..
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.

I play an Ovation Thinline Standard Balladeer Acoustic/Electric.  I tried experimenting with the effects and found that I got a better sound without any of the standard effects.  Perhaps adding a bit of reverb here and there can add nicely too.

This is another thing that is largely dependent upon personal taste.  Another major factor is the quality of the instrument.
Cheers!

Same here. I tried some effects too. In the end, I did not even plug my Ovation into the MBR. I just used a little reverb, used built-in mic, and was quite happy with the results. Definitely all personal taste, though.

Yes, I'm sure the piezo effects are designed just for the acoustic/electric....I don't own a MBR, but they've got to be...

I personally prefer the sound of a mic'd acoustic w/ a little to alot of reverb...but that's just me :)

On the contrare, I use the br900 and there are some pretty good acoustic presets on it- the micro br might have some of the same---I like the WIDEACS preset....

Preset patches 76:ForPiezo and 77:Piezo Ld are meant for any guitars that use piezoelectric sensors in or near the bridge to convert mechanical vibrations from the strings directly into a signal, as opposed to conventional magnetic pickups which create a signal through magnetic induction. Piezoelectric sensors are often (but not always) used in acoustic guitars and are increasingly being built into solid-body guitars as well, allowing the solid-body guitar to closely approximate the sound of an acoustic.

Regardless of the type of pickups in your electro-acoustic guitar, feel free to use any of the patches and let your ears be the judge as to whether the patch is suitable or not. There's no harm in trying any patch.

Several of the patches in the MIC patch bank are meant for micing an acoustic guitar (01:Ag LoCut, 03:Ag3B Cmp, 05:ForNylon), but I think they'd also work well with an electro-acoustic guitar with magnetic pickups that's plugged into the Micro BR's guitar input. Try the other MIC bank patches too. Don't let the patch names dissuade you.

Some people prefer to mic their acoustic guitar rather than use its built-in pickup, while others prefer to combine the mic'd sound with the sound from the pickup. Still others can't be bothered with mics and record direct from the guitar's pickup. Try all of these techniques and use whichever you like best.

The five preset acoustic patches in the BR900/864/600 use the Acoustic Processor effect which, unfortunately, is not available in the Micro BR.

I usually use the JC-120 or Clean amp, then adjust the EQ to my liking (depends on guitar and finger vs pick), then add a touch of delay and or chorus.  So just editing GT01 SuperClean will get you some cool tone.  When I record the acoustic I also turn on the mic with SENS=+4-8, REV=5-8.

I have a pretty simple set-up for electro-acoustic, but it works nicely for me.

I record through GTR and MIC at the same time. Just press the GTR and MIC input buttons at the same time. If it works, a '+' will appear between them.

I then change the GTR effect to 'BassCrunch1' and the MIC to 'Onboard1'. I only use a little of the guitar signal, so turn down the volume on the your guitar and / or via the input volume wheel. Mixing it like this gives you a natural acoustic sound along with some added electo depth. Try it!  :)
