I saw this on this week's SonicTouch podcast. It's a site that allows users to upload sound recordings that are then linked with their geographic location via Google Maps. Most of the recordings are ambient sounds, railway stations, nature sounds, etc. You can download any of the sounds, so it might be a useful site for getting sound clips to add to your songs.

As an example, here's a recording made in Bærum, Norway. The description reads: "present phonografic work has been recorded at a beautiful midsummer afternoon with bright sunlight and barely any clouds. thus the fjord was swarmed with boats of all sizes and categories. from small boats and yachts to vessels as big as ocean ferries and anything in between, all contributed to the size and amount of waves clashing against a small plateau of basaltic rock at this location at any one time.

the recording has been made with a directional condenser stereo mic using the roland R-05 recorder. original format properties: wav 96.0khz/24bit

Maybe some of our Micro BR and BR-80 users might contribute to the sound map by recording sounds from where they live.

There's also a free app available for Android and iOS.
