Yesterday I went to the "Stavern festival" and had the pleasure to hear Sting live, and a couple of other quite good acts as well.

The day started off with a hero of mine, Ole Paus, who's on his farewell tour. I've covered a few of his songs here, the last one Mitt Lille land. He delivered a great concert alone with his guitar from a big stage in a beautiful sunny and WARM day. Not many artists can capture the audience in those conditions, but he sure did.

Then there was a Telemark band called Hellbillies. They are quite big in Norway and sing in quite distinctive telemark-dialect.

Then we had Anne Grete Preus. A very strong Norwegian artist. As Hellbillies did, she struggled with bad sound (the engineer must have been a wannabe guitarist, the 'best' guitarist was way too loud in the mix), but she delivered a great show nonetheless.

And the there was Sting. I mean, I did have quite high hopes, but man did he deliver beyond even that. I know, I know, it's sting. But man, that was some show! And best of all, I think almost half the songs were Police tunes. We got message in a bottle, Roxanne, Demolution man, ..... And of course Every breath .....

Man those guys could play! The violinist!!! Wow! The keyboardist! The guitarist, man I do want a Telecaster now!!!! The backing vocalist, wow what a voice she has! And my oh my ..... Vinnie Colaiuta, that man is a genius !!

You can say what you want about Sting, but man he can sure pick some good musicians and deliver a fabulous show. Highly recommended to anyone who love good music !

Sting's a serious musician and very underrated - I think he's got a gorgeous voice and he knows exactly what to do with it.

just a tad bit envious, never got to see him or the police...well, I've seen the Police but I don't think it was him in the uniform.

I'm glad you had a good time. B.t.w. Hellbillies are not from Telemark, but from Ål i Hallingdal. ;)
