BR800 - Quick access to click track / metronome ?

Hi,

been using my newly acquired BR800 - and could do with some advice:

Is there a quick way to acccess a simple click track / metronome ? I've found the metronome sets at the end of the rythmns available - but it's a bind having to cycle through all the presets to get to them.

I'm just after a tempo specific beat to synch my playing and to tie the tracks down to a tempo so that I can apply percussion afterwards.

As an aside - is there a way of saving a song 'template' - ie once you've selected rythmn, guitar inputs etc. to have this as a standard instead of having to set up everytime ? the manual isn't the most logically set out document I've seen - it tends to just run through the specifics of each option rather than taking a step back and saying, if you want to achieve X then you will need to do A,B & C.

many thanks

What you need to do is create an ARRANGEMENT.

Press the RHYTHM button
Arrow up to TYPE:
Select ARRANGE
arrow down to EDIT and press enter.
Select STEP and press ENTER
use the arrows to select the various parameters of your first measure of the arrangement.
You'll onle need this one if it's just for a metronom purpose, but this is where you build up the whole drum arrangement for your song.

Hope that helps

Good luck !

Thanks again Geir.

I'll try that out tonight - at work atm (have to pay for the guitar and BR800 somehow).

Create a new song and make all of the settings that you want for your template. Don't forget to create a simple arrangement with your desired metronome preset and tempo. Give the song a suitable name such as "TEMPLATE" and enable Song Protect so you don't accidentally erase it or alter the settings (see page 110 of the BR-800 manual). Then, whenever you want to start a new song project, simply make a copy of the TEMPLATE song and rename it (see SONG COPY on page 109 and SONG NAME on page 110).

I find the metronome presets a bit annoying, mostly because of the 'ding' on the first beat. So I make my own click pattern using a closed hi-hat with a higher velocity on beat one to mark the start of a measure. You can create your own patterns using the BR Rhythm Editor software. Once you have a click pattern you like, you can use it in the arrangement of your TEMPLATE song so that it will be available for other songs too.
