this one the words and melody came to me first. a very rare occurrence it's usually music  first with me. anyroad up, i picked the ukelele up and tried to find some chords to fit, as a result the melody and words changed a wee bit. before i forgot the song i recorded just me singing on another songfolder (not this version) i was heavily inspired by duglas t stewart. i might go back to that version/melody and do a reworked version as i first imagined it. but for what its worth this is the version for now.

Excellent, James! The chorus is fantastic!! I'm glad you met Douglas Stewart...in many ways ;). I'm loving  all the uke tunes from you! Very atmospheric stuff, like this!

"When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion." - Robert M. Pirsig

Ted

The song brings to mind two of my favorite quotes.

This first one, I've always liked, but I'm not certain it's entirely true:

Quote from: Bertrand Russel link=http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/885.htmlThe whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Yes, it's satisfying to think of frustratingly rigid people as fools and fanatics. But this other quote resonates with me as more wise, true, and compassionate:

Quote from: Robert M. Pirsig link=http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Robert_M._PirsigYou are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, it's always because these dogmas or goals are in doubt.

Great song, there is a real haunting quality with that Uke.

As with a number of your songs I love the stripped down and raw nature of them, but on the other hand can also hear a larger production in there too.
