I think a Summer Song fest would be better in the middle of winter as it would provide a nice virtual escape from the freezing cold weather. In fact, that was the original idea when it was first suggested by oldrottenhead in January 2010:

A bass can be simulated several ways. There's the Bass Simulator effect in the BR. You could use a keyboard to play the bass tracks. Or you could play the bass lines on a standard guitar and drop the pitch an octave using Audacity. See the links in the following post:

i am afraid to say a while back it twas i suggested summerfest, but it was in the depths of winter, summerfest in the summer, get a grip guys vote for songs with words that dont rhyme, you know it makes
