Quote from: LESTG on June 23, 2013, 10:00:06 AMI have listened to this a lot! That descending line is the BADDEST ass thing I have heard in a long time. I think my friends across the pond will know that baddest means good. Killbear is only 4 years younger than me he knows. lol :)

Awesome awesome playing!

I got ya... "bad mean good"  ;)

That descending lick is actually based upon a finger exercise that another player showed me years ago... pick three consecutive strings (a,d,g for this song) then play an X pattern across the strings first finger on A string, second finger on D string next fret up, third finger on G string next fret up...then descend on the G string 3,2,1...then back across the strings in reverse, making your X pattern...and finally 3,2,1 on the A string to your starting position.
For this part, I do that like 8 times descending a half step consecutively with the whole pattern...giving it a falling down the stairs kind of vibe.
Makes for a great finger exercise to learn arpeggiated, across the strings type stuff, or to make it up which I enjoy.

I'm a very pattern oriented player...

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE INTERVALS 8)

Nice stuff, giving a Van Halen vibe to me... You are a very clever guitar player, as others have mentioned above, being technical and fast is ok, but making it clear and melodic is a super skill to have :) Good job

Don't tell anyone, but I have a bit of a soft spot for Megadeath / Faith No More type Metal.  I even have a Steve Vai album somewhere.

So this brought a smile to my chops.  Not a big fan of indiscriminate shredding, but this is done skillfully and tastefully, so I approve.
