Daughter Milli, at StoneHenge - Summer Solstice 2012, hugging the stones on her birthday  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hippy child of mine :-)

The only time of the year when they allow people to actually go and touch the stones.

Here we go...

Here's some pics from the Mid Summer Eve 2013...

1. Sauna and sauna stove. We heat the sauna and throw water on stones, temperature is about 80 centigrade...then we go to swimming...

2. Setting Mid Summer bonfire up. Mid Summer bonfire is a Finnish tradition. At midnight we set up the fire...(to be continued after midnight...). I presume the's plenty of bonfires around the lake.

Kari... Your solstice is gonna kick mine's ass this year... We have overcast skies that are supposed to clear up... I'm glad the wife took those pics of the sunrise and sunset... Not sure if we will see a sunset tonight. The wife is picking up booze and BBQ as we speak... I will promptly throw the meat on the Barbie when I get home... Yum... I'm gettin hungry.

Looking forward to see some pics from your BBQ! I prefer Mid Summer much more than Christmas or New Year. I'm a child of light :)

I agree and the bonfires on the lake... I can only imagine how beautiful it must be. Awesome stuff.. Thanks for sharing your pics... Don't know if I'll be able to post mine tonight... but most certainly will have them up before the weekend is over... Happy Solstice everyone... 12 hours and counting!!!

At first glance, I thought this was a picture of a whale on his way home from the lumber yard. :D
I don't know - maybe he was planning to build a deck on his whale house so he could invite the other whales over for a barbeque.  ::) ;D

But then I thought "Oh, wait. It's probably a rock, not a whale." It does look like it's out in the middle of the lake though. I guess the near shore got cropped out of the photo.

We couldn't set fire to our bonfire, though I poured petrol on it >:( >:( >:(. It was too wet... But, here's another one. Photographed at 1 o'clock.

Stonehenge 1984 - a festival, didn't even know that they did that, and a fly past by concord. Looks a right hippy fest!

I attended that one, one of many I went to. These were lawless, drug fueled parties and a right on gas. Hawking came on at one for them at around 4 in the morning, fantastic trip. Roy Harper played too which is on the tube.
