Songs you've heard by others (non-songcrafters / non-proffessionals) elsewhere

Sometimes you hear a song by someone (on alonetone, soundcloud etc.) that you get really excited by.

I hear lots of good stuff on alonetone and thought it would be nice to have a thread to shout about discuss / review / share.  Different I think to the What Are You Listening to Now thread as that is mostly about videos from established artists.  This is a thread for the little guy...

Here's a great song for example which I really love posted by band (?) from Tenessee called Lazysoundclub. Brilliant song...

I downloaded this track and I can't remember where I got it from.... it's by Bokor Balázs. I couldn't find him on here. I googled him and still didn't find the track... I'm at a loss ... THAT CRS of mine really sucks sometimes.... I started writing some lyric to this track but realized he's not from here.... If anyone knows this guy or where or how to get ahold of him.... I would like to finish!!!! I think this is a killer track... has a lot to offer for anyone even if you don't like the metal beginning... Love the keys.... love the guitar... the drum progtramming is top notch... and that dirty assed guitar... Yeah this is something I could sink my teeth into

BTW... I'm not sure it this thread is gonna be a space clogger so we might wanna hit admin up!!! I think it's a killer thread though.

The player doesn't seem to work on this mp3 up not sure if you guys are experiencing the same... I had to trim it up a bit to fit... Download should work.

Modified.... again... 64 has guided me to the link. Thanks man

Here's one I always liked from the old Yahoo! BossBr group. It's by Todd Moore. It was recorded on a BR-864 and originally posted Feb 5, 2005.

Details from the original post:

"Ok. I wrote this song last weekend while I was home, and recorded it
starting last night. It's the first song of my own writing that I
have ever recorded.

Subject matter:

My daughter has a friend who has been secretly cutting herself. This
is a song I wrote about her. I can only speculate on why she does
this, but as I understand it she's not alone. Many young people are
doing similar things these days.

Recording:

The guitar is Capo'd at the 3rd fret, and buzzing pretty good. I have
never noticed that my guitar needed work, until I recorded ;) I'll
need to get that into the shop. I used the first acoustic preset, but
I changed it a little. Mostly, I turned the compressor on and
adjusted it to deal with the finger picking.
The electric at the end is recorded using the BR-864 amp modeler and a
preset of my design. I wanted something with a lot of gain to play
the harmonic guitar part.
The keyboard is a Roland Juno-106, with a preset that I synthesized
just for the recording. It was recorded in stereo on the line-in from
my mixing board, and has some big reverb put on it by a Digitech DSP 128.
I'm still not at all happy with the sound I get from the SM58. My
next purchase is going to be a condenser mic, of some kind.
I mixed the whole mess down with the 'Brighter' mastering preset. I
liked being able to select between the mastering presets while I
auditioned the track."

Cut
by Todd Moore
Pain from the things you say to me you can't see building up
Skin aches with pressures underneath like a thief stealing life

I try to ignore things that happen you know
But I hurt and can't let it all go

I'm cut     I'm cut

You cannot understand that your plan is killing me
Why make me carry the weight of spite and hate upon my back?

Release what's inside me, the guilt you have laid
with the edge of the razor's blade
It won't last forever, just for today

I'm cut     I'm cut
I'm cut     I'm cut

cuthbert

I spend a little time on Soundcloud (where I met missX) but here's another of my favorite artists who makes a home there: Stephen Fierce of Austin, TX and also of the band Zest of Yore.

This is one of his earlier songs, called Cat Zoo:

Nice one, cuthbert. There's a lot of interesting stuff going on and I love the vocals. It's a shame the recording is so over-compressed though. Another victim of the loudness war. Still, a very cool song.
