I 1st met  jim aka r,head doing a thing called the ban promotion group which was basically helping up and coming young bands to get out and gig with p.a supplied and mixing done for them.

was "the bandwagon" kenny.

and i am afraid my motivations where not altogether altruistic there  .

i did all that stuff so that me and wee donny (R.I.P.) could borrow, the tascam or was it teac, reel to reel 8 track, and the atari computer with cubase vst (or whatever it was called back then) and the roland sound module and midi keyboard. to write and record bunkbeds songs. but you are right, it was a very similar vibe to here. we all pulled together to create a great we vibe/club/scene. every wednesday upstairs at the village tavern.  a couple of bands doing all their own material, and once a month an open stage for all comers, all compered by yours truly. now every wednesday downstairs at the village tavern it's the quiz night, also compered by yours truly 

the only similarity from upstairs and downstairs tho is that as the evening progressed i got/get steadily more drunk and increasingly rude. it's a wonder ive never been stabbed  . i think the closest i came to that was slagging of stix's sartorial elegance at one of the open nights, but red waffle suits where never a guid look 

actually when i think about it, when i am on here and have been drinking....................................................

Aye ok,,,that's the last time I try to put you on a pedestal ya fruitcake lol. P.s. I got a loan of the gear as well for gigging and the recording stuff  but I still loved mixing for the bands and we got paid in beer so yeh the mix did seem to get better and better,,,,IN your head.
