This may get a bit long lol,but here's the thing.
I 1st met  jim aka r,head doing a thing called the ban promotion group which was basically helping up and coming young bands to get out and gig with p.a supplied and mixing done for them.
The key word here,,,,Helping.
I then ended up sitting in my house many years later with a medical knee problem and I was basically sat in a corner in my house waiting to get better when jim told me about this site and it gave me a purpose until I got better but unfortunately I got hooked lol.
There he was again, helping guys from all over the globe to get their music listend to.
I have listend to songs and story's by songcrafters telling their story's ,people have opened their hearts wide open here ,story's of great loss,of love, family life and I'm sure through personal messaging have said a lot more.
I know I have had a few and its been a pleasure to have listend to them.
This is more than a musical outlet for me as I have made so many friends and made so much music and tried my best to help others here in a way I thought I could and they have been gracious enough to let me .
Again the key word here is helping,,,,helping others.
I have no time for negativity in my life there's enough crap out there to fill a new planet.
So here's to songcrafters, the Big Big global family and long may it continue.
Here's to mr 64 for starting a Internet version of what myself and jim were trying to achieve back in the days of cassettes lol.
Seriously ,this site is no walk in the park and if this was the starship enterprise he would be scotty keeping the engines going.
Songcrafters is a loving, friendly, global, healing ,creative gem,and Im proud to be a part of it ;D.
There now,,,that wasn't too bad was it?  Rock on  ;D

Thanks for this post, Kenny. But just to set the record straight, I didn't start Songcrafters. It was started by our good friend Pedro on Dec 15, 2007. He is the visionary who created the site and was the sole administrator till March 2010 when he decided to move on to other things. The current admin team then took over the site. And it is a team effort. Flash Harry funds the site entirely himself. We all owe him our gratitude for this. Without him, there probably wouldn't be a site. Oldrottenhead and cuthbert help out with the day-to-day maintenance of the site (identifying and blocking spammers, moving posts, fixing broken links, etc.) I handle the technical end (updating software, adding new features, maintaining jukeboxes, etc.) and act as a sort of unofficial spokesman for the team. And the whole team discusses any issues that might come up, ideas for improving the site, selecting which choices to offer in the festival polls (we each pick two, so every poll has 8 choices that cover a variety of interests), etc.

Anyway, I don't want to take credit for other people's work. Pedro deserves all of the credit for creating and designing the site. Apart from a few minor technical improvements, we really haven't changed the site all that much from what Pedro created. And Flash Harry, oldrottenhead and cuthbert deserve a lot of credit for their time and effort (and Flash Harry's generous monetary donation). Though their involvement may seem a bit more behind-the-scenes than mine, they're definitely a big part of what makes this site great. And I couldn't wish for a better team. So a big thank you to Pedro, Flash Harry, oldrottenhead, and cuthbert!

Also, a large part of what makes Songcrafters great is its members. When I joined in 2007, I found the forums to be very civilized, friendly, and supportive. It was a few weeks before it dawned on me how magical that is. All of the other music sites I visited were full of flame wars, criticisms, and discouraging and often hateful comments. But microrecorders.org (as it was known then) had none of that. And it wasn't because Pedro was keeping out the troublemakers (to the best of my knowledge, he only ever banned one member for an unacceptable attack on another member). It was because we didn't have any troublemakers! That is so rare and magical in web forums. And I was especially impressed at how members went out of their way to encourage and support other members. This was something that I hadn't seen in any other music forum before. So I think most of the credit for this site should go to its members, including you Kenny!

I stand corrected mr 64'but regardless of all that I thank you for your valuable contribution.

Well put 64... Is there a monument that has been erected for Pedro yet??? Now that I think about it Pedro is why I first joined.... with his youtube instructionals. I remember trying to understand V tracks/ bouncing/ mastering... all of that stuff was foreign to me at the time. Pedro's helpful videos made multitracking simple and easy for a halfwit like myself understand. Truth be known they probably still apply to this day. It's amazing what this site has evolved into...

Flash thank you so much for your selflessness... It's amazes me that someone has the amount of passion for music to front a forum such as this. You may or may not realize it... but effects people around the world (In a positive way). I think the internet and forums should use this place as a model. I haven't seen too many forums out there that interact the way this place does. Truth be known it could probably run itself someday, but we all know you need to have some sort of assemblance to hold everything together.

Again I can't express how much gratitude I have for the admin team. James... ORH... Jimmy.... Jim.... I think it's pretty obvious how much of your time and life you have dedicated to this site... and I think that every site should have someone just like you... yes you are a very kind hearted person who knows how to get a little crazy now and again... I appreciate that... keeps the spirit of this place alive and ticking.... And your an awesome musician/ songwriter/ singer/ guitarist/ uke/ juno/ producer/ R&D/ R&B/ Rock/ Country/POP artist.... did I miss anything???

Cuth... you have been a topic of discussion with myself and a few members here on PM's and Skype sessions... and trust me it's all been nothing but good and positive. I believe you are a big part of what goes on around here. I put you on a pedistal of the highest level of respect and gratitude... and you are also a great music hero of mine.

Bottom line... I'm grateful to all of you on the admin team. You guys deserve some kind of humanitarian award for keeping this place alive the way you have. I also am greatful to be a part of such a great community... You guys are awesome!!!

Yes.... long live Songcrafters!!!!

I feel the same way Kenny ...

And I believe the positive personality of this site is obviously due to
the relentless hard work, patience and understanding by
the entire forum staff as well as it's many key contributors.

Thanks,  Kenny B.
