Cards in Hand
W/M by OsCKilO

I'm not playing your paper game
Not spilling my pain on a page again

Focus on the good times
Only the good times
Make way for the better times

You can't taint my name again
No hurry to blame when it goes your way

It's time for the pay-back
On to the right track
On form but laid back

Sit tight while I dream up the remedy
Good times are all that's ahead of me

I'm done with the paper chase
Gonna slow right down
Gonna change the pace
I gave it my best try
In for a penny
Sound as a pound
Beggar on a bus ride
Wheels go round
But it don't stop at the sights and sounds

Now I cash all my chips in
Step from the table
Cards in hand

Not playing your paper game
Not playing your paper game

See I run on my vibe
No secret to keep and no bad mind
No quota to fill and no down time
No reason to feel out of my mind

Focus on the good times
Only the good times
Make way for the better times

Focus on the good times
Only the good times
Make way for the better times

Hi Tharek, is this you? I hate to be critical, it's a very rare occurance, but you are so much better than this. I know we all need to move on and grow in what we do but I just didn't get this and you must know I'm a great fan of yours and I don't understand. If you find this a bit harsh PM me and we can talk...........Willie

Not so many comments for this at the moment, so I guess some folks are confused. I'm not though. Perhaps it's a 'London' thing, but this all makes perfect sense to me. A gritty and urban rap groove. I really like the tabla beats and the pushed-back guitar. There's a bit of Chumbawumba on the vocal too!

I love the fact you can switch from tender folk to this. That, my friend, is versatility. And when you have something different inside you, let it out.

Onto listen number 2, and it's sounding even better.

No confusion here...just my usual lateness for one reason or another.  ::)

I like it - it's contemporary and definitely has the urban grit to it. Shows real versatility on your part, T.  And I'm actually kind of worried about that traffic officer...some of those cars are whipping by him at speed!  :D

Yes it's urban, but not hardcore urban. I like the rhythmic vocals and especially the accent (you're not trying to be some fake wannabe rapper). I like it a lot, I'd definitely listen to this . . . a lot.
