This is a song I was asked to sing the vocals by my good friend Bud. Bud has contributed real drums to some of my songs so I owed him the favor. The song was written by Doug Lagasse. Bud recorded the music and did the mix at his studio in Canada. I recorded the vocals at my place using a Neumann TLM103 mic and my VF160. Bud - drums. Doug - rhythm guitar. Chris - lead guitar. Scot - bass. I was asked to sing it in an old rock 'n roll style.....I did the best I could. The lyric is a nod to the drive-in shows that were popular in the fifties, sixties and seventies.

Back Seat Love        Doug Lagasse                   Key C

8 bar intro
Verse C A F G
I'm getting ready, I'm ready to go
I can't wait to get to the drive-in show
I'll pick you up at eight in my new car
We'll park at the back but not too far

You got me singing

Chorus
Back seat love and Saturday night
What a mean combination, makes me feel right
All week long I've been anticipating
How we'll get this car rocking and shaking

bridge 2 bars  (Back Seat Love - Saturday Night)

Could you move to the left just a little bit dear
I've got the door handle stuck up my ear
We've got to keep it simple, this is twisting my shoulder
You look so good, come a bit slower

Turn up the speakers, that's my favorite song
The rhythm's so good, let's fog the windows all around
Oh that feels better, let me kiss you, I know now why, why I miss you.

Chorus

Bridge
8 bar lead break

I don't need anything when I've got you
You make me forget to take off my shoes
And every long weekend there's a chance to kill
Sunday night too at the triple bill

Hey did you notice the brakes lights glow
In that car over there, they couldn't wait to go
But you and me, we've got class girl
We know the back seat is a better world.

Chorus
4-8 bar bridge
Back Seat Love - repeat and instrumental to end

Just got back from Twangfest, and I can hear this one fit right in the set from last night. Good sound, too. (good mix)

Cool song! Beautiful playing and mixing - it all comes across so classy, and I loved the sound fx additions. Like ORH, I got a bit of Billy Joel on this. Plus a bit of 'Looking for a Kiss' by the New York Dolls on the chorus. Great stuff!

You really nailed that rock 'n roll style singing. Cool  8)

Hi Farrell, liking this. It has a slightly dated feel but a great modern sound. Top notch.......Willie

This rocks and hums right along, Farrell. I remember the drive-ins, although I was too young for much more than the movie the last time I went.  :D Great rock-n-roll style all around, and I love it when you call out "guitar!". :)

Oh yeah you can't beat a good rocker (there's a pun there!) A great song Farrell and you sing it well - I thought some of the lyrics were interesting . . . "You look so good, come a bit slower" . . .

Smooth as silk. Good rocker!

I have lots of fond memories of the drive-in movies. Some of the best pizza I ever ate was served there. Not to mention the extra-special activities in the back of my Volkswagen van.
