BR-600 Instructions (Clarification please?)

Well, I had a question about a part of the instructions and now I can't find it... Somewhere in the book I thought it said to lay the BR-600 on a flat surface to use. Well, my computer table is a little high and I can't see all the functions when I'm recording. Is there any problem with having it at an angle (or placed in something like an I-Pad or a notebook stand? Since it basically no moving parts and it is electronic, the angle should not affect it's operation, right???

Another question, I just purchased a Mandolin that does not have an installed pick-up, I will have to use my voice mic. To be able to use the EFFECTS for Guitar, can I use my voice mic in the guitar input to record the mandolin, or is there mismatch in impedance or whatever that would blow something up? Any advice out there will be appreciated, thanks!

The br600 will work at an angle-
a hi-impedence dynamic mic will work in the guitar input. (assuming your mic is dynamic)

You don't have to use the Guitar input to use guitar effects. You can use any effects bank with any input. It only defaults to the most suitable bank for your convenience when you switch inputs. You're free to change it.

For example, when you select the MIC input, the display initially looks like this:

MIC>P01:Vo Compl
(COSM COMP VCL)>

Notice that the cursor is under the "1" in the patch number. Press the Cursor Left button until the cursor is under the "C" in "MIC", like this:

MIC>P01:Vo Compl
(COSM COMP VCL)>

Now turn the TIME/VALUE wheel to change the effects bank from "MIC" to "GTR", "LIN", or "SML". Then press Cursor Right to return to the patch number and turn the TIME/VALUE wheel to scroll through the available patches in that bank.

"64", you are a master of the BR's!! Thanks for the info about 'cursoring' over on the effects window to get guitar effects while inputting with a mic! Even looking at page 38 in the manual I would not have figured that one out... My little cheepo mandolin sound like an orchestra in the "Ambient" and ClearSky" effects, fantastic!! Even with my low budget (no-budget) studio mic from Guitar Center, it sounds great.

Now to find out what the other effects do (the line and simul)

I've been using my BR600 for over 3 years and never knew what 64 just explained about being able to use the different effect banks on each input.  Great to know!

Okay, since my BR-600 can be used at any angle, I made a little table-top stand for mine. I have not done the finish paint yet, I just wanted to check to see if my "eye-ball-engineering" measurements were correct (they were!) This is perfect for recording my monster 12-string Takamine and see the imput volume at the same time. Have a nice evening!

Hey 64, can you help out once again with the sizing of this photo so it will "appear"? Thanks much!

Thanks everybody! I painted it this afternoon, and tried it out tonight on another project (this one might leave you in tears...) My BR-600 is visible at that angle and very easy to get to all the external workings. Success!! Have a nice 4'th of July (USA)
