I have listened to this several times already from RN. Nelson you always deliver the goods. This is one of your best of the many good-uns you have put out. Great lyric, performing, mixing...all the above associated with creation of a fine tune as this one.

Great melodies and captivating story line - nice work, I enjoyed it.

Lovely song. The chorus is something special, and the TJ violin was a perfect choice.

You truly are a star Nelson, and this song has a real warm retro quality to it both from a performance and recording perspective.

Those lead acoustic lines that accompany the strummed guitar and vocals during the first two verses are fabulous, and also like the way you strip it down for the last verse and chorus.

The chorus itself, as others have said, is very special and bringing in the TJ violin and vocal harmonies just makes it soar.

Running out of superlatives for your songs!

That's some powerful story-telling, Nelson. Great performance (wonderful live feel to it), and loved those little flamenco-ish leads throughout the song. Those are some very nice TJ violin additions, as well.

On a technical note, I heard some volume fluctuations in places in the chorus where the volume ducked down noticeably quieter. Did you do some kind of ducking compression or high compression ratio to handle track levels?

Or it could be that I'm listening on laptop speakers that aren't of the highest quality... :)

Thank you all so much.

Since, I've yet to start playing out, you are the audience I aim not to disappoint.

I was messing about too much with the mix and lost perspective but I do hear it, as well.
I just went back in and turned things back up a bit, in the chorus.
Only I could screw up a simple four track mix, eh?    :) :) :)

There's something sweet about those old popping and hissing field recordings.

Holy crap my brother this is so very good. That chorus just floated my boat into peaceful waters! My 12 year old daughter came in on the 3rd listen and said..."He's really good!"
Rock on!
