I just want to take that first part and play Bo Diddley all night long.  That's what Bo Diddley did.

Hey guys... here's how I did it... I mixed everything down though my Yamaha MW 12 CX mixer. Using MIC's: Audix I5 (Snare), Sure Beta 52A (Bass), Sure SM57 (Over head Rt), Sure SM57 (Over head LT). I adjusted all channels pretty much straight up and down on the eq. You can adjust the bass and snare to your liking maybe roll off some of the mid on the snare to get rid of the ringing. Maybe the same on the bass drum and bring a little low end up to get that thump. I then recorded using the BR from my stereo rec out from the mixer into the stereo line in on the BR. You can record MONO if you like to save some track space... I prefer to record stereo... gives a much bigger sound initially. I then used audacity to throw in some effects using the envelope tool along the timeline. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it.... Some might ask why I didn't just record straight to the computer... well I tried but my USB interface is giving me fits and I still haven't figured it out... So the BR gets all of the credit. Man I love this little thing... Recording vocals, guitar, drum tracks has never been easier. Thanks for the comments.

i'm gonna use sm57's on the snare-toms-one on the shell of the kick
then i'm gonna try using my SP C1 as an overhead-it's a new mic-hardly used it
those mics will all be on separate track in sonar using a MOTU Ultralite

then i plan to mix the drums down to stereo track to use in the BR

Just fantastic! It's firing my imagination for sure. Thanks for posting - having live drums is way better than an 'off the shelf' backing track. Love the little effects you've put it too.

Here's a tune I wrote a while back that sounds a little Grateful Deadish (dead2 in the working title) but I never got around to programming a good drum pattern for it.

I did have to slow your drum track down some to fit the song but that was easy enough in the freeware "Wavepad" utility I have.

It may have gotten too muddy with all the bouncing and buried the drums some but let me know what you think.

I've got a few lines of words for it also if anyone's interested.  ;D
