That's a great shame.  The Doors remain a massive influence on me and have been for many years.  True game-changers.

Sad news. He was so in love with the Doors and Jim Morrison that he spent the rest of his post-Doors life talking about them and playing the old songs...he never moved on and now he doesn't have to. I'm sure he and Jim are playing the old songs now.
