Just ordered these http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb11/articles/fostex-pm04n.htm in red for £119 + free delivery off Amazon, bargain as the normal price seems to be around £165 ish. My first monitors ever, they seem to have favourable reviews and are small. There is one pair http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fostex-PM0-4n-Active-Near-Field-Monitors/dp/B003PHRAA8/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368373830&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=fostex+o4 left if anyone is interested.

Some first impressions. The monitors are very well made, they look stunning, they are heavy and look like they could take a beating. I tried them today with the BR80, I listened back to a few compositions I made of a more spacy/dance/ambient  nature and was very surprised at the clarity including transparency. These are not bass heavy and neither should they be, what you hear is what you did including any mishaps!!! It seems I mixed the tracks quite well, using mastering effects changed the dynamics for the better when listening back through the Fostex's. These songs had no vocals, the song I tried with vocals sounded ok if a little busy but the vocal one was my first ever on the BR80, so I hope to improve now I have the monitors and the AKG217's.

So far then, very impressed, very nice finish, nice un-coloured flat sound, very punchy, loud enough and best of all an absolute steal for £119. By the way the drums in the BR80 sound surprisingly good too. I think I am going to enjoy my forays into this recording lark, I just feel at little more at ease now I have no band/s to look after. Cheers.
