Guitar Auctuion !

Hello people.
I haven't been around for a while and I apologise for that ... I went and got myself engaged so life is certainly changing and I don't have as much time as I used to.

Anyway, a long time ago I posted an article about rare guitars as investments.  A shop featured was Jacksons Rare Guitars here in Sydney.

I have been waiting for the liquidation sale to come up and it finally has.

There are a whole bunch of nice guitars and basses and guitar cases and amps and stomp boxes and strings and odds and ends.  I guess it may only be of interest to people around here as you need to pick up anything you buy.  I could possibly arrange something if anyone wants to purchse the Gibson Les Paul 1959 re-issue and wants me to look after it for a while.

This makes me want to take a trip Migs. There are a couple of Gibson Acoustics that are making my mouth water. I'm sure the price they sell for will be much higher than the opening bids though. That store had/has a great inventory!

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on the prices.  People do tend to jump in at the last moment and ruin my dreams.

Great idea! People always think about getting a bargain on a high-end guitar, amp, or keyboard. But stocking up on the little things like strings, picks, straps, cables, mics, stands, etc. might be more practical sometimes.

I'm not 100% sure of this but just in case I'd recommend that you make sure you keep them in a happy place where they will stay warm and dry so they don't corrode or degrade in any way.

Strings (and there were several boxes of 40 or 60 assorted packs) started to get lots of bids right at the end.

The 60 packs of 12 strings went for $149:  http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0240-5006204/musical-instruments/approx-60x-nickelhead-12-string-acustic-guitar-string-packs-183170-240?redirect=0  That is still incredibly cheap at $2.50 a set or 20 cents a string.

The biggest disappointmetn was the guitar.  I was winning the bidding on the until 5 minutes before the close of the auction ... $119 for a $550 guitar. Unfortunately you can only see the results of items you bid on so I don't know what any of the high-end stuff went for.
