First of all, please excuse my lack of manners for not thanking all the generous comments on my Buddy Holly cover. This last month I've been a bit busy, and back at home, I tend to connect to the internet with my new beloved ipad. I get too lazy to comment on people's songs, but I intend to solve that very soon.

When I thought the Ipad would solve my gas syndrome, I just realized that I opened (actually - I bought...) my own Pandora box: In less than a month, I bought audiobus (a must!), the ikaossilator (110% fun guaranteed) and the ielectribe (bugger! what the hell shall I do with that! glup! I now realize there is no "craig's list" for ipad applications!).

I did this cover with garageband. I used the ikaossilator for the weird sounds, and I recorded, for the guitar and bass lines, two very ancient instruments, once named "electric guitar" and "electric bass".
I used the GB "white" amp for the bass.

Hope you have fun. I enjoyed it a lot, not only doing the cover, but re-listening to the amazing album Sandinista, probably my favorite Clash album.

Sandy (Gritter) - you have not been forgotten! I am still looking forward for that collaboration. I simply decided to finish this on my own since we are only at 2 days for the end of the Reggaefest.

So... nevermind the bollocks, here's dasilvasings...

Great finale to Jamaicafest.  Love this Miguel and I prefer your vocal to the original.  Can't beat a bit of Clash and reggae !

Any Clash makes a good day, this is fantastic. I love the noise of the spring line delay, where did that come from? Have you been kicking your amp?

Damn, I forgot I knew this one! That bass is spot on, and you've captured the reggae dub groove perfectly!

Thank you all for the comments.

A bit of Trivia:

Q: Which are the only 2 Clash songs sung by Paul Simonon, the bass player
A: Career Opportunities and The crooked beat.
(source: internet)

FH, Garageband allows only for 2 effects, reverb and delay. There is of course no automation, so I recorded the vocal track normally and then copied to a new track the word I wanted with the spring delay. I then added the delay only to that track. If you listen carefully, the last word is a little louder, since I didn't delete from the original track.

dub = bass and lots of reverb. And then, when you think you did it, you put more reverb on top! Stir it, and serve moderately warm.

Paul Simenon sang on Guns of Brixton. Career Opportunities was definitely sung by Joe Strummer. Internet's not always right!
