Quote from: Ferryman_1957 on February 18, 2009, 09:44:37 AMI gave it a quick try before my last post and it didn't appear to work that way - the list went from about 20 down to 1 when I logged off and logged back on again. But let me double check, as it was only a quick test. It makes sense to work this way if it works the way you say.

Sorry. I think I left out some important information. When you login, there's an option to "Always stay logged in". I use that option since no one else has access to my computer, so there's no need for me to logout. If you logout, then you're probably right that the list of unread messages since last visit gets reset. It doesn't happen to me because I seldom logout. In any case, this page on "Viewing unread posts and replies" says "The user has the ability to select to try all unread topics which will display any topic with Unread Posts, regardless of their last visit time." I'm not sure where to find that option but I think it might only appear when there are no unread messages since your last visit and you click on Show unread posts since last visit. I think it will then say that there are no new unread messages and ask you if you want to view all of your unread messages, regardless of the time of your last visit.

Another useful option described on that page is the ability to view Unread Posts by Board. When you go to the forum Home Page, you'll see some icons down the left side with the microrecorders.org logo. Some icons have a blue background while others are the reverse with a white background. If you hover the mouse pointer over these icons, you'll see that the white ones are beside boards that have New Posts, while the blue ones are beside boards that have No New Posts. By clicking on the white icons, you can view the unread posts for that board only. I'm not certain, but I think this is not dependent on your last visit, so you might prefer this option over Show unread posts since last visit.

The best of all is that we discuss it and get a solution good for most of us, to all of us if possible. This only shows this is a great friendly comunity. So far I just love it.
About the monthly award, by no means I would like competition in this forum. But, if the idea goes forward, i think it´s just a good way to show wich work/song has catch more attention in terms of emotions that it gave to the users in this forum. But I totally understand that it might give an idea of competition, tho for me, we are all winners already, because everyone here has shown great stuff, even the most simple work has something to apreciate.
Cheers

Here's the link for All Unread Posts, if anyone wants to bookmark it.

This will display all topics that contain messages you haven't yet read, regardless of when you last logged in.
