I missed this first time around and was directed to it from the topic about J.J. Cale's death.

64's music is as exact as it can be, not surprising that it's spot on perfect. I had to smile at the description that 64G gave of his recording of the piano. It's a great bridge - I guess that it would have been good enough at full speed for the rest of us, just not absolutely on the meter.

James, this is one of your best vocals. The only comment I could make is that I could live without the delay being this long. Otherwise utterly fabulous.

Really impressive guys. Great programming, playing and singing.

Not familiar with this song, but this is is superb! Love that slide guitar part & the piano is amazing. The excellent vocal is the icing on the cake. Loved it!

Man oh man this is laid back and groovin'. The production is top notch and the vocals fit this blues number like a glove. Piano sounds great, guitar tone on the solo is perfect, everything about this is excellent! Great Job guys.

So much good.

The piano sounds are so rich – especially the low end. I like how everything is mixed kind of low (except for the vocals – I'll get to those in a minute) but not too low: The guitar, the strings, are like textures in support of the looming piano – like henchmen lurking just behind.

I don't know much about Captain Beefheart. I had one album a long time ago, I think. It must of been "Trout Mask Replica," but I'm not sure. But I am sure that if there were one song on the disc I had that sounded as good as this, I would have been motivated to keep mining that discography.

The vocals are great. I don't want to do a "reminds me of," but it reminds me of a few American singers who can deliver that "wounded animal" energy: calm, controlled, and potentially dangerous.
