Making an Archives Board?

What do you all think of having a board for archival recordings - those blasts from our collective past that are cool to share and talk about?

I think it would take up too much storage sapce and that would be better suited for new songs. however, if you host the songs on your own site and post links, seems to me that would work better.

Yeah, we are limited to the amount of disk space that we can use, if everyone posted their back catalog to the site it would fill up pretty quickly and that would have to be the end of any posting.

If you have a track from the past that you would like to share, post a link to it or use one of the widgets that 64 Guitars has developed for us to embed the link into the post e.g. the soundcloud/soundclick/reverbnation widgets, but please bear in mind that flooding the site with older material will dilute access to the newer material and reduce the listens and the comments.

If you have a Soundcloud or similar account where these are stored, how about a link in your profile?

Well, perhaps I'll just post it here - double tracked using two cassette decks and cheap Radio Shack mix (2 R, @ l inputs to 1 R and 1 L out), a real echoplex and genuine CB cross-talk from people with way over the legal limit rigs.

For a friend who touched my heart

Emotion - 1975

Delicatly, softly,
Not knowing where she wants to be

Confusing, disillusioning,
Not knowing who she wants to be

Pulled from side to side
And inside about to die
She screams, I can't take it anymore

People yelling and shouting
Like the world's about to end
And what she wants is for it to stop
So she can look at it again...

And if it does, she wonders, if it will be
Just all that, she hoped it would be.

All that's going on
Is tearing her apart
piece by piece,
breaking her down into nothing.

Forgetting it, makes it worse
No matter what, it still hurts

Closing the doors,
is just shutting it inside of you
Running away,
well love you can't escape yourself

And you can't, can't, can't let it out!
And you can't, can't, can't let it stay in!

Love is the only answer
Who's I don't know
But if you find it
That's the solution you will hold
Love's eternity
and love is you
Girl the answer lies with in you!

Hi Chris - I agree with Frank and Flash, the site's all about new recordings - but putting a link on the general discussion board is a great idea - it's not bumping anything off the board and not taking up any space.

I'm really glad you posted this, it's very lovely (you've got some vocal range there, I swear your voice is higher than mine!) Fuzzywuzzy was a bear, Fuzzywuzzy had no hair, Fuzzywuzzy wasn't very Fuzzy :D

You'd should be proud, I'm sure you are . . .

Hi Haylie,

I did have quite a range when I was 17, but now I can't sing that high.

I'm not sure proud is the right word. It's more like sharing a family photo between friends
"Look! This is what I was doing as a teen, kinda cool isn't it?"

I've gotten over the confidence thing as far as I'm sure I'm talented, just not as talented as others and more talented then some and also I have a realization that talent is only part of the equation, you got to work hard to get the skill to actually use your talent well. Unless you are Mozart these things don't go on trees. And I bet he practiced like a fiend too.

We are all on our own path and have different skills to bring to the table . . . I don't think you can compare, we are all unique - let's celebrate the unique :)
