I have ondows XP pro 64 bit.  It looks like there aren't any drivers for the BR-800 for this version of windows.  Is that true?!?!?!

I would expect the Windows XP driver Roland provides would work correctly...have you tried it?

It would seem that you're out of luck if the info on the following page is accurate.

You should phone Roland US tech support. If they confirm what the above page says, then you should complain.

Personally, I've always avoided 64-bit operating systems. There isn't enough support for them, so there will always be some drivers and programs that you can't get. The opposite never happens. You don't see drivers or programs that are only available for 64-bit operating systems. The 32-bit version is always available. The 64-bit version is sometimes available, but often (as in this case) it's not available.

If you are still on Windows XP, it is time to think about moving off.

Windows XP End of Life countdown clock

It is now less than a year till winXP becomes an unsupported orphan OS.

Also these days a big issue with 32bit OS's is they do not support large memory models, with windows 32bit you are limited to 3Gb user addressable.
Major pain for memory hungry applications like many of my imaging programs. My imaging workstation has 32Gb ram and a 60GB sdd swap/cache drive, even with this I have run out of caching space, photoshopcs5 is a beast.

Try installing and running the program in compatibility mode for XP.

If it fails to install at all, you are dead in the water. Definitely time to upgrade your OS.
Not enough memory can be a problem even if it does install.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and it supports a maximum of 24 gigabytes. I currently have 12 gigabytes of DDR3 memory on the motherboard.

Okay, I have another computer with XP professional (not 64 bit) on it and I loaded the drivers and cakewalk there.  Now I have to read the instructions for setting it up.

All loaded fine but I'm going to have to figure out how to gett the stuff I've done on the BR-800 onto the computer.

Oh the learning curve.  :)

Thanks for all the input.
