I've put up a short part of Hole Hearted that i did the other day mostly to have a  play with the drums. I think it worked quite well but i think I can hear quite of bit of distortion or clipping or something in both guitar and drums. I realise now that I don't know much about the recording levels. Any hints and tips appreciated.

Cheers

Sublime playing. Is that a 12-string jangle you have going there? It sounds great!

In terms of production, the drums need to come down in volume a bit. And it would sound great with the guitar panned left (say, L20-L30), with a second layer of guitar panned far right (or vice-versa). Either way, you'll see what I mean if you fill the sound out with a panning and second layer. Just a suggestion...  :)

It is a 12 string. I have it plugged into the BR as trying to find 5 minutes of silence in my house to enable me to record a raw acoustic is near impossible. There is also a 6 string in there and i didn't even think of panning them off centre. I think i may have deleted the file but if not i'll give it a go and drop the drums a little.

Is there a way of saving the file on the computer to come back to later other than saving a finished MP3?

Hey, you play very well! Don't be shy, let's hear more.

If you want to save stuff to PC, just plug it into a USB port on your PC using the USB connector on the LH side. It then appears as a removable drive. You can back up everything into a folder on the PC and then drag it back in later on to the MBR. I use that all the time.

Cheers,
