Converting a bass to a franken-electric cello

I really like bowed instruments but wood tuning pegs and peg boxes give me fits. And... I tried violin but could never get a decent tone. But not deterred I butchered a cheap bass after finding a cello fingerboard and bridge on amazon (the land of anything you can imagine).

What it sounds like so far via the electric pick up - it was hard to play and still needs work. You'll see why if you can access the photo album below.

If you are very lucky the link will take you to my facebook album of all the photos I've taken of the conversion up to this point.

Cool sound, it would belong right in a horror flick.

thanks flyon90!

I'm almost done - I have a video with new audio and some details here: http://chrisvaisvil.com/?p=3156

I am intrigued.  The sounds are otherworldly.  I particularly enjoyed the image of the cat playing the new instrument.

Very cool.

Thanks Blooby

The cat is something else to watch playing my instruments. Though not as entertaining as the ferrets were.
