Here's something a little different for me.  :)

It's a cover of the old holiday chestnut written by Frank Loesser back in 1944. I knew it was a popular song for duets around Christmastime, but apparently it also won the songwriter an Academy Award For Best Song in 1948 in the movie Neptune's Daughter where it was used twice - once with Esther Williams singing the lead, and Ricardo Montalban on the second vocal, and then it was later inverted in the same film for more comic effect with Red Skelton singing the lead and Betty Garrett as the second.

Originally I had this planned for a Yulefest release, but I got bogged down with work and other commitments. But I was able to add the finishing touches this weekend, and where missX and I live (in Germany & New England respectively), it's still cold outside and with snow on the ground (and we're expecting another 6 to 10 inches of snow here in Maine tomorrow).

It was a real honor to work with missX on this, and it's also my first recorded duet.

Thanks for listening,
cuthbert

Lots of fun!  Could you also put up a YouTube vid with a little bit of soft-shoe work?

Really nice, smooth arrangement and performance.  Layed-back and interesting.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Listened this yesterday in the night shift! Not familiar with the original, but this is a great jazzy tune. Sounds even better, now. Fantastic playing and singing, Cuth!!! MissX has a really gentle voice!! Looking forward to hear from you! =>Piepod, absolutely!

Wonderful! The piano and uke are brilliant and the vocals are fabulous. MissX has a great voice and her slight accent adds a touch of class.

I've always loved this song. It's been recorded by many artists, but my favourite is the 1949 version by Buddy Clark and Dinah Shore. Although, I just heard a version by Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone from the movie "Elf" that's pretty cool.

Since it was planned for YuleFest and it's obviously a Christmastime song, I'm happy to add it. However, the jukebox can't play WAV files, so I converted it to MP3 at 256 kbps and attached it to your message. I hope that's okay.

I didn't know what a Martinet was so I looked it up.

I had no idea that you were into S&M cuth!  :o  ;D  :D

Oh, wait. I see what's happened. You made a typo. You probably meant Ondes Martenot.

That makes more sense.  :)

quote from Widipedia (I had to look it up too) -

In English, the term martinet is usually used not in reference to the whip itself, but rather those who would use it, a person who demands strict adherence to set rules - if the cap fits 64!
