Hey thanks for all the kind words, I've had a terrible week and you lot just made me smile!

Yes on playback i can hear the vox are too high... i did actually add distortion to the mix to try and give it a little rasp, maybe i overdone it. It is also very possible that the input signal was peaking, I tend to shut my eyes when i sing, its also quite possible my hearing is a little shy, cos i have my boss on 100 All the time in phones yet i still feel the need to compress it to hell! I have no mixing speakers just a big tv that makes everything a middle-fest...

I have been trying really hard to open up my range by singing in mix voice. When my voice is rested and i can get the chords closed, it's really starting to get there, other occasions like today ( i have had little sleep, quite a few beers and played lots of gigs/ open mics this week, very stressed!!!) I simply have to try and shout, something i have yet to master, i cant seem to get enough Ummph into it, i try the whole compression thing, but i really feel like i am approaching it in the wrong way, somewhere is a key to this door that i just can't find. Hopefully you'll see what i mean with this recording. Any advice (you might be able to hear where I am going wrong?) would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to sing Twist and shout, but I am miles away... :(

Fantastically played on guitar, and your voice actually really suits the song.

I love how you made it your own, but didn't ruin it (which is so easy to do with such a grand song). Big well done!

Thanks again for the kind words, you really think the vocals are ok? The reson I ask is cos i feel like i am getting 'stuck in the thoat'. I have been doing lots of research and it appears the problem lies within my breathing. Spent today trying to force a loud sound whilst keeping my throat totally relaxed, almost holding my breath when releasing a note, trying to get the feel of grit lower down and made some massive steps forward. Allowing the resonance to be felt in the front of my face... Was kinda really hard to let go and go with it, but the resulting sound was a lot less 'filtered', and coupled with keeping my posture and chest more upright i felt a lot more controlled whist shouting. Been looking to get a foot in the door of this concept for my whole life, so today was a special day!!!

My voice was still a bit fragged, drank almost 3 litres of water today! Hopiong to knuckle down and do some more shouting tomo, I'm gonna post the results, I'd like to see if you think I'm singing better...

Ps... Dan, you have a great signature... You and me both brother, keep the dream alive :D

I'm probably going to say stuff you already know but you need to respect your vocal chords - rest them, drink plenty of water and there are vocal exercises you can so to extend your range - if you are interested and don't already know any pm me and I'll run through them with you. I can hear some strain on your second track (which is also mighty fine btw, you are very talented) On the oooomph side - you can get more oooomph by over enunciating the syllables - not sure it would work with Twist and Shout though. It's something I've really struggled with capturing on a recording with the BR (and Rode) and I've finally done it by setting the BR to the side, angled up and kinda of singing across it (Two Little Dickie Birds). Having said that, I didn't follow any of the advice on Two Little Dickie Birds and it shows!

The best of luck Daniel - you deserve it :)
