Hi there folks. I have been a bit of a lurker since i purchased the MicroBR in the company of my wife and she took it off me saying "that's your birthday pressie sorted, you can have it back then". So i had three weeks of waiting and reading up on it till i got it last week. Now she hates it as i spend most of my spare time with headphones on and a guitar in my hands.

Anyway, enough rambling on from me. I thought i'd post a very short piece that i did tonight when my daughter asked for a lesson on how to use the MicroBR. Here is her first recording of the intro of Wish You Were Here. It's definitely not the greatest quality but i think you'll be surprised if you take into account that she is only 8 years old, has only been playing for around 10 months and it is first take on both tracks......no second chances. You can see her do the whole song last year just before christmas at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbWXuz0MqfQ

WOW! That's really good for an 8 year old (have you checked her id - she could be lying about her age). The BR is a great a tool to help her develop, so do work at it to discover all the depths in that little box. All the folks here have helped me greatly. There are a lot of good effects as well that will help her try different styles, although they do need some tweaking. Also, there's a lot of really good guitarists on here, so if she wants tips on guitar techniques I'm sure these guys will help out.

Great stuff. It's great to see a girl playing as well. It's clear she has great ability and a lot of potential. Look forward to hearing more. But what about you? Do you play, or are you just the Svengali-like figure in the background  :)

Cheers,

Nigel

I do play a bit myself but am probably a bit too self critical. I listen to things i've recorded and always decide that they aren't good enough and then delete and start again on something different.
I've really been getting stuck in to this brilliant little mirrored wonder box. There's still a lot to learn but i'm getting there. I already have drum arrangments somewhat sussed. I have noticed that a lot of the guitar effects need work so i've been playing around with them a bit in the last few days.

I'm sure that until i really have it completely sussed you'll be hearing more from me.

i would say that your daughter is a natural. she even volumed down and pulled the cord from her guitar like she's been at it for ever. if that's you signing along with. you've got nothing to worry about around here. and, even if it isn't, around here it's not about the judgement - it's about the music.

give your daughter a big cheer!!

and for the both of you - come on in the water is warm.

Wow, she is good.
Can you imagine how she will sound when she is 20!
I believe that you have given her a wonderful gift that not only she, but the people that she touches with her music will enjoy.
Hey guys we are looking at the next big star here...
Applaud, applaud!

Don't be shy, people here are pretty supportive. Also, feel free to post some ideas and let others add to them. That's a great way of getting work finished and also having it go in diffferent directions.

I've been promising myself for the last 10 years that this year woukd be the year I would get back into recording and playing music. The BR and this site have finally made it happen, and spurred my interest in music again

Cheers,

I assume you're referring to the you tube vid........and no that's not me singing, it's her guitar teacher. She was going to him for about 5 or 6 months or so but we've moved further north and i've taken over her lessons for the time being.

She is a bit of a natural and i hope she really sticks with it. She can get a bit slack about practising at times.

Thanks for the kind words folks....i'll pass them on to her. she'll love the attention.

Cheers
