This is another Greeny/ORH song from the Jemima's Kite boys.

I'm posting this one in celebration of the arrival of my new bass.

Tim sent the guitar tracks to ORH and me, I couldn't get into the groove of this until ORH had done his usual magic with lyrics and vocals.

This brought the whole thing to life and last night when I should have been tidying the house in preparation of the return of my wife from her extended break in the Antipodes, I pick up my new bass and had a noodle.

Here is Rise.

The house is still a mess.

Hope you like it.

let me be the first to congratulate you guys on a another delicious cut from the kite. cool synth sound at the end.

what's the new addition to the family, flash? smooth sounding for sure...

It sounds like there's synths on this, but it's all guitar & bass. I was just using the most far-out effects I could on the BR... 'Moonage' and 'Tubesock' being the most prominent ones. The drums are on the 'hip hop' kit setting, which also takes it further towards a more electronic-sounding place.

That bass is as tasty as it gets, Flash...  :)

I think it's just the swirling guitars floating around. There's also a bit that sounds like an echo-repeat, but it's just the way I was playing, lol.

This is a real grower, and a bit of a change of direction from "Filthy Animal"! Didn't grab me at first but it's grown on me over a few listens. Very nice job, great soulful vocals from ORH.

One criticism tho, and it's aimed at Flash. The bass line is great, really great, but IMO it's too low in the mix. I can only really hear it in full with the Sennheisers on, when I play it through my "radio mix" speakers most of the bass gets lost, especially in the middle bit when the guitars get going. So less modesty when mixing please Flash! Not a big problem tho, still like it a lot.

I was playing with both Tubseock and Moonage last night as I'm working an ambienty-thing. Certainly way out, I felt a bit too way out. It's great the way you have used them but not let them overpower the song.

Cheers,

Nigel

I used 1+1=3 on my last song for some ambience and I like the way it sounded, these way out effects are really neat and if used well (for ambience not to overpower) they are great.

Great sounding song, mellow, spacey, dreamy.  The bass is splendid, but I agree about being too low in the mix.  A song like this needs prominant bass to anchor all the swirling guitar.  Man Flash you can make a bass sing, great great job with the bass.

Thanks for the heads up. I liked that effect on your "Greet The Day", so I'll give it a try.

Gone a bit off topic, so getting it back on topic, c'mon Flash, remix please :-)

Cheers,
