Come hear me murder one of my favorite songs

Judy Teen
Cockney Rebel did it first

Judy Teen,         the    queen of the scene, she's rag
 doll amore
Verbal slang  Am-   erican twang you
dare not ignore
In from New York   prompted her to talk
of super balls
Judy Teen grew   sick of the scene, just
bragging to fools

She took us on    a   carousel,   she made us
Smile, and oh how we   laughed
Together riding on the c-   rest it was swell,  We stole her
face,      and oh how we   laughed
She made us happy

Sacral blues        and the   various hues,       she
capered to draw       me
Me and Yankie,    all hanky panky,
seldom she bored    me
She's so bold, and    me feeling old,           just
stroking her                   f-   ace
Super troupa-dour, he can show you
more than her lace

She took us on    a   carousel,   she made us
Smile, and oh how we   laughed
Together riding on the c-   rest it was swell,  We stole her
face,      and oh how we   laughed
She made us happy

Judy Teen,    we   know where you've been,    your
ego's insane
To the caba   ret where you'd schelp and
sway on your cane
   Seeking shelter   no helter skelter's
gonna betray ya
Judy Teen,    the    queen of the scene,     is
coming to slay ya

She took us on    a   carousel,   she made us
Smile, and oh how we   laughed
Together riding on the c-   rest it was swell,  We stole her
face,      and oh how we   laughed

She made us happy

ooh-la, ooh-la   ooh-la, ooh-la
ooh-la, ooh-la   ooh-la, ooh-la
ooh-la, ooh-la   ooh-la, ooh-la
ooh-la, ooh-la   ooh-la, ooh-la

Well I think you captured the tone of this just perfectly and it's not easy to do. You used the humour to great effect and musically I particularly liked the harmony sections. I great cover Nick, the perfect start to my day - it made me smile.

This is far from murder. Love it.

Thanks all.  I've just popped the lyrics in above.

I may do another mix, I think the bass is a bit quiet.

Cockney Rebel were a big influence on me, although I didn't get into them until the early 80's.  A school friend of mine's dad had the albums.  Would've liked to have done Mr Soft, but there's way too much music in that for my abilities.

Great cover Nick. Not heard this song for a long long time but it brought back memories of getting my first guitar and trying to play the riff on it. Totally forgotten till I heard it again. Funny how a song can bring back memories! Thanks and well done!

ORH has voice my immediate thoughts, I never thought that Steve Harley got the recognition that he deserved, still he's doing ok these days; and the vocal is really leaning towards Ray Davis, but the feel and delivery is really true to the original.

Really enjoyed this, I will have to dig out my vinyl now...
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

Really gets going during/after the 1st chorus.
I remember this 1st time around (yes I am that old).
Proves there's more to Cockney Rebel than Make Me Smile (Come Up & See Me).

Where next? Mr Soft?

Loved it.

I fully agree.  For me Human Managerie and Psychomodo were better albums than Best Years of our Lives (where you find Make Me Smile).  Although I like that album too.

I'd love to do Mr Soft, unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start...
