1978- Well this completes my goal of a tune from each year of the '70s but I doubt my trip is over. This is the product of 4 shortish sessions in Nissan Sentra Studios, one session in the waiting room of Tires Choice (new tires for the studio ;D), and one short tri-bongo session at home. The distorted guitar is my Martin Backpacker with a cheap suction cup pick up. The percussion started with my keys on my right leg and my left leg was the snare. I added bass drum & cymbals with thumbjam and did the tri-bongo quietly with just my fingertips.
I had alot of fun with this one, Elvis Costello is probably the largest influence in my own writing & this is the tune that got him banned from Saturday Night Live for 11 years. I wanted to be both somewhat faithful & make it my own, to me it has that live band sound. All done on the mbr (cleaned up in audacity).
Keep on truckin my friends!

1-distorted guitar
1-keys and leg drum set
1-bass drum(TJ)
1-cymbals(TJ)
1-ukulele
1-plucked double bass(TJ)
3- melodica tracks
2- vocals

I'm lovin' your work lately, this one also - great song, great sound.

I'd like to hear a mix without the distorted guitar, not sure it really added much.

I love EC's early work and you've done justice to this one.  Very different from the original but a damn good cover!

Elvis Costello was one of those artists that passed me by - not sure why, but never really grabbed my attention. He was the original songcrafter though - he recorded his first album at home :-) I remember those who liked him, loved him. I must confess to not remembering this track, but enjoyed your version Bro, very energetic and full of passion for the music, great stuff - at congrats on completing you mammoth task :-)

Another great track from the HookMeister.

I love early Elvis Costello & I like your take on this song.
It might lack the snarling, bitter angst of a young Costello, but makes up for it with that certain combination of distorted guitar & Uke  :o
Good vox too :)
