Seems like a remaster is in order. Drums are at a much better level IMO.

I've been playing the rough "complete" version a lot today (had to go to Cambridge on business) and really enjoying it. Rik, if you're ok with it, I'd like to try reusing the original bass track because now I really like the bass sound and am not sure if I can repeat it (I was fiddling with my Zoom bass effects pedal late at night until it sounded right). The bass is a little loud in the intro, so I can bring it down a bit. But I can redo it if you would prefer a simpler intro, just let me know.

Once Rik has the remaster, ORH do you want to do vocals first or shall I add the bass and send it to you? I also have some ideas for backing vox - would you like me to do a version with those on or would that be overkill?

Cheers,

Nigel

PS you might wnat to do an optimize before the remaster just in case....

What's an optimize?

Now that I have listened to this numerous times, I like the bass, allot! Keep it. I agree it might have been a touch too loud though.

press stop and record at same time and it optimizes the recording, removing overwritten data saving settings etc so less chance for read errors when mastering.

I think you have to access the Optimize function through the menu. Press Utility, then SNG, then scroll right with the cursor to get to the second screen of options, then press OPT (using Trk 4 button)on the far right. This tidies up the storage of song events and makes more memory available. I don't know if it will help but it's worth a try. I've not come across any problems with mastering like this, my only guess is that perhaps it was short of memeory while mastering. But that's only a guess (annd a wild one).

Glad you like the bass, if you can get me a new version I'll add it back in with it slightly lower at the beginning (it overpowers the guitar in the left hand channel a bit).

Cheers,

Nigel

that's how i've always done it- but if does as Orh says, by pressing stop/rec simultaneously, that is certainly convenient

Alright here it is. I tried both techniques for Optimizing the song. I hope this one works.

Nigel, you might be right, I only have a 2gig memory card, and I'm starting to run out of space. I had to delete a bunch of stuff recently. I've been thinking about upgrading to a new 8gig memory card, but I am not as familiar with this Micro BR as some of you are. I want to save all my uncompressed songs, as some of them are unfinished. How do i do this? Can I transfer them onto my computer, then transfer them back onto my new memory card?

Don't waste your money. The Micro BR can only access 1GB of memory card space, regardless of the card's capacity. So buy some 1GB cards instead.

It's easy - just plug a USB cable (the type that goes into your PC at one end and a camera at the other) to the USB socket on the LH side of the BR (and the other end to your PC). The BR will then appear as a removable disk drive on your PC in your folder list. You can drag and drop all the data over to a folder on the PC. The song data is all held in the directory named "ROLAND" and the mp3 data in the folder called "MP3". You can then delete the data off your card and reload the old stuff later on.

But as 64 Guitars suggests, the easiest thing is to get a supply of 1gig cards because that's all you can use. I use SanDisk UltraII.

ORH and I are working on the new version - will keep you posted!

Cheers,

Nigel
