thought i would have a go at one of my favourites live in the living room.
thought it was from 1979 and could get in the 70's fest but was released in 1980, but i bet it was written and recorded in 79  ;D ;D

September '77 Port Elizabeth weather fine
It was business as usual In police room 619
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja -The man is dead
When I try to sleep at night I can only dream in red
The outside world is black and white With only one colour dead
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja -The man is dead
You can blow out a candle But you can't blow out a fire
Once the flames begin to catch The wind will blow it higher
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja -The man is dead
And the eyes of the world
are watching now
watching now

A great interpretation. Really floats along nicely with just the uke and the (excellent!) vocal.

Your voice is so good.
Love this version of one of my favourite song by one of my favorite singers.

This is a superb cover of an excellent song, on a remarkable album, by a genius musician, and this of the pick of the versions for me Jim, that vocal is sublime!

Nice choice James. Any song by Gabriel is fine by me. I think you're right about it being wriitten  before 1980 'cos I saw him in do it in Feb 1980 before the album was released. It takes him years to get round to finishing an album.
Oh and Geir, I've got Gabriels wav stems of Shock The Monkey. If you want them just message me and I'll put them on Skydrive for you to download.
