Well, I finally decided to take on this monster  :D

I had to record it in three parts and stitch it together in Audacity.

It has 12-string and 6-string acoustic, Telecaster, Slide and Bass, plus a dash of TJ cello, mellotron, & percussion.

Bit of a mess, but that Macca lad is quite a hard act to emulate  :D

Yeah, an almost untouchable song to cover, but yer did it! And kept the 'Greeny' sound. Great job...

Woah! Off the scale! What a fabulous cover.

You've managed to pull off two pretty much mutually exclusive things, you have kept true to the original whilst making this your own.

Magic stuff Tim, hats off to you.

I've been wanting to take on this monster for quite a while, but now ..... Wow this would be too tough to follow.

Fantastic cover Tim. Was that a "walrus" chord change I heard at the end of the first section?

I think that must be the mellotron strings bit. If you do a dive or ascent with the mellotron, it captures that wobbly, psychedelic 'Walrus' sound so nicely. It's why I love it so much :-)

I was almost tempted to swear when I saw you'd done this. Just out of excitement and anticipation.

This is f#cking awsome.  There, I did swear.

I was in a shop on the weekend - I forget which one - and they were playing this.  It could've been Tesco's actually. I remember thinking what a great song it is.  It was Tesco's definitely.

I definitely perfer your version though, Tim, and not just because it has no actual traces of Macca.

Fantastic! Great vocals. I love the "like you mama" bit. You nailed that. This is such an elaborate song. It must have taken you a lot of time to learn it, record all the parts, and put them all together. Well done.

A mighty fine version of this song Greeny! The 12 and 6 string acoustic strumming sounds are excellent ....very natural sounding. I used to cover this song when I gigged so I know it's not an easy song to do but you did a fine version of it!

Chord and structure-wise it's a pretty easy song if you chop it up (there are three different tempos to deal with). I've listened to it so many times that I instinctively knew how to shape it musically. BUT... the vocal... oh my word, it's soooo hard to sing it. My voice is in a completely different key / range to Macca's. I thought about dropping the tuning a bit but stuck with it as it was in the end.
