Sixto Rodriguez / 'Searching for Sugar Man' movie

I don't normally recommend films, but I know others on here will REALLY dig this in a big way.

It's a documentary about the search for a 'missing' singer songwriter (Rodriguez) who released 2 albums in the late 60's and disappeared. I won't tell you any more than that as it will ruin the incredible story.

It's life-affirming and totally amazing. Not only that, I immediately bought both albums. He's like a mixture of Dylan and Donovan with a bit of Nick Drake on the guitar-style in places.

Okay, I am intrigued. Just watched the trailer and listened to 'Sugarman' - I dig the Donovan-esque vocal delivery and the oddly 70s psychedelic sounds. In fact, I like it a lot!

I had actually seen a little buzz about this film in the press...I'm going to try to find it!

Just watched this and Tim our right its a stunner of a film it should be compulsory for every musician to watch it ..I feel I've been let in on the secret ,......now I'm of to Amazon to buy the albums ....thanks for the tip off...

I saw the video a month ago (thanks to Greeny's tip) and forgot to comment on it. It was quite a documentary on the search for this legend that never was.....in the US. It's an amazing story that held me captive but not so much my wife, lol. It's definitely one of us musical minds. It's hard to fathom that he was a mega star in S. Africa but no where else and he didn't even know it?
