I'm really interested in Native American Music, particularly Cherokee. There's a good website www.cherokee.org with free music downloads etc. Here's a link to some downloads http://www.cherokee.org/AboutTheNation/Culture/Downloads/33057/Information.aspx- My favourite one is Beautiful Home.

If anyone has a similar interest, I'd love to hear from you.

My uncle moved down to Oklahoma near the Cherokee reservation. He's helping fight to keep the rights to the Southern Cherokee tribe from being abused. I've not gotten into the music much as of yet, but it's something I've contemplated. Too much on my plate right now to get serious about it, though.

Oh what a great thing for your uncle to do. I don't like much of the commercial stuff out there (that I've come across) it's over produced, over synthesised, over harmonised and pappy (IMO) but the music on the Cherokee site is faithful to the original - just 2 voices, and really touches the soul.

I'd love to get a wooden flute and record some of the traditional songs myself (I could get close to the originals, hopefully, as there's no wretched guitars!). I think it's had an influence on my own music too, as I much prefer the stripped back, bare guitar and vox.

Thanks for replying :)
