Wow!

I wonder what this is like to use. Proper mic inputs and speakers and CD burner!

We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

I have to say I'm underwhelmed by today's new product announcements. No new multitrack recorders and nothing that interests me. The Studio-Capture audio interface would be interesting if it was cheap. But given the price of the Quad-Capture ($269 US) and Octa Capture ($699 US), and the fact that the Studio-Capture is their top-of-the-range audio interface, I expect it to be far from cheap. And it's only got USB 2.0. Computers with USB 3.0 have been available for three years. Why is Roland putting old technology into new products? Especially their flagship model!

For anyone who missed the announcements, you'll find them at the Roland CONNECT page:

I'm with yoiu 64G .... not much to write home about (do you say that in the English speaking countries, or is that a Norwegian saying?)

I wonder what I'd use it for ???  I hardly use CDs anymore (except for in my car (2003 model, no interface to new/old technology)) ;D 5 years ago it could have been a winner

I have to echo the same sentiment ... Yawn. All I see here is more of the same. As a matter of fact, the majority of the offerings this year seem to be sort of ... well ... consumer, not pro. What I mean is, the BK-3 is nothing more than a bedroom players wet dream ... the recorders ... nothing more than a suped up tape recorder. (which has been done before) The amps, well all I can say is that I play guitar ... not an ipod. I'm getting a little sick and tired of seeing all the so called ipad/pod/phone integration and very little innovation from companies of late. They are all making themselves out to look like Apple whores.

Having said that, the three new pedals from BOSS seem interesting, and the Roland/Fender corroboration with regard to the VG strat ... cool.

Looks like BOSS/Roland are sticking by the BR-80 and BR-800 for their standalone multi-tracking offering for the foreseeable future. Sigh.

Gotta agree. Pretty dire really.  I Wonder when/if someone will  write and record a whole best selling album/song including all the musical parts on a mobile phone without any physical instruments. Hopefully         never.

Don't tell me they already have :'(
Sweet young thing aint sweet no more.

Wow - there is nothing that gets the gas going - the pedals are really uninspiring.

I would imagine it will be pricey. I have heard good things about the Octa-capture & Quad-capture. I've only heard a few people mention some buzzing problems with the Quad if the Hi-Z is engaged. I have heard the Quad and it's not bad at all. Low latency drivers and has the auto-sensitivity button for level adjustment which is kinda cool.

Why haven't any more manufacturers come out with USB 3.0 interfaces? That's been a question leaving many people scratching their heads. There aren't many on the market. Blackmagic Designs has a interface mainly for video production at around $900US, but I'm not sure if it's good for multi-tracking. Aardvark had one bundled with Cubase and had good reviews. The Apollo Quad with built in DSP looks interesting, but who wants to dish out $2500 on an interface for home recording? Plus they have Thunderbolt (for Macs).

Thunderbolt can carry low-latency PCIe protocol, so it should be a pretty good interface and Motu may be going in this direction. I wonder if it will be available for Windows users?

But you guys are right. There seems to be a big market for the Smart phone/Android & iPad/iPhone users. Small apps that are easy to manufacture and sell for a big profit. Looks like us Home recording musicians (on a budget, well at least me) will have to continue with USB 2.0 until something becomes available and affordable.

Here are some videos on the pedals. I imagine we'll eventually see this "Multi-Dimensional Processing" technology in future BRs, so it might be of interest to BR users.

I listened to them all, and too be honest, was not blown away by any of them, and I was not impressed by the distortion unit. I think I'll walk on by!

Yay! My wallet wins one for a change!
I see absolutely nothing even remotely gas-able in the current Roland/Boss lineup.
