48 and going nowhere

Well, I listened and would listen again if this were on YouTube. Good delivery and I am sure everyone on here and indeed everywhere has had feelings like this from time to time.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Haylie, yeah I can relate to this but it would scare the cr*p out of me if anyone said "Yeah boy, I'm gonna push this one". I like it in the shadows but don't you ever sell yourself short............Willie

Hi Simon - well spotted, that's one of the porkies, I haven't got anything on Youtube yet - did have Seven Men of Short Stature on there but had a real rude comment (not nasty though but rude!) it put me off a bit so I took it off. I've been trying to get the Youtube line into a song for over a year now and have finally got it bang where I need it :)

Tim - I have actually done X Factor, yes I can say I've sung at the O2, probably 3 years ago before I even contemplated comedy. People are always so quick to run contestants down on those kinds of programs but you have no idea how hard it actually is until you've been there and tried it. There's nothing like being filmed and having a producer 12 inches from your nose to focus your mind - people that are successful on those programs aren't necessarily the most talented but have a real grit and determination about them that makes them special. At the end of the day we are all just following our hearts and I applaud them for doing so.

Maxit - thanks so much for your kind words. Yes I know and admire John Prine's work but my inspiration for my direction is actually Only Fools and Horses. John Sullivan's writing was obviously very funny but also very touching and that's what made the program so special (not sure if it made it across the pond). I've tried with a song called It was Wednesday, which I haven't posted here yet - it's more sentimental with a hint of funny, and then with My up Tempo Song (which can go down really well live with a bit of hamming up) and now this one. I really like it :)

Thanks for the support Willie - everyone I know tried to put me off the musical comedy route - it's difficult to sustain, you'll be too nervous, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah . . . quark.

sorry for the War and Peace xx

Very nice tune Haylie, i do like the melancholy humor. When I lived in Nashville I wrote a similar song about writers block called "Candlelight" (it's way back in my jukebox) and I really never would have thought 15 years later I would be supporting my family  (almost comfortably) with my guitar, so don't get down! It might not come like you think it will but it will never come if you don't stick to it!

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Oh thanks for the support Hook - I'm not down at all, far from it . . . we have all got our own paths to follow :)

Thanks Kari :) - interesting Youtube fact - they wiped 2,000 of my views off this week with some message about double counting phone views in January - not that it really matters! (I used to be the voice of Doris the singing Knee, don't ask - till I realised there's a very unsavoury knee fetish out there and deleted it - kneedless to say (see what I did there) it attracted a few views!)

btw - what is that photo of you on Youtube Kari - you're a handsome man (no I'm not hitting on you!) why?

48 Haylie????? Why you're still just a spring chicken (a compliment). I did hear and enjoy the humor and felt some empathy (been there done that) in your song and lyric! Who knows where life's road will take us but certainly nowhere if we pull over to the side....keep at it!
