Uke, bass, vocals, & thumbjam cello all done on the MBR.

A bit weird. And only 2 minutes 20 long

Lyrics...

a blackbird in formeldahyde
and the bow tie of a circus clown who died

ooh cadeaux macabre
ooh tied up with string
it's a very dark thing that I bring

a double headed cobra skull
and the unborn floating foetus of a foal

ooh cadeaux macabre
ooh tied up with string
it's a very dark thing that I bring

etc etc

Musically and lyrically dark, I'd be disturbed opening any of these gifts, but the song is brilliant. I love the plodding bass, the chunk-a-chunk of the uke, all gives a weary sound, offset by the fab vocals which remove any menace from the song.

It's not something you'd bring to a lover, unless you wanted an ex-lover......

Wow. This is special.

Excellent song Tim !  And I think it's the first time I've heard you sing (at least so prominently) in that low register. Very cool.

Absolutely love this, but then I reckon you know I would... :D

Image inducing lyrics, never fail to impress. Fantastic low vocal lending true weight to the proceedings. And that kinda double bass drum part? Wicked! Was that a MBR preset? I ain't found that one yet! Or was it some of that Phonejam finger witchery? The whole song could easily be described as your 'Walrus' moment and will be going down in my book of Green Majick.

All standard MBR rhythm patterns. I think it's R&B Verse 2 and Fill 2 patterns. Can't remember what Kit setting it was on though.

You are a HUGE (if not total) influence on this one :-)

Dark & disturbingly delicious! Love the uke, are you using a pick to get that chunky sound?
So I saw your other post with this cd cover of the little birdie sardines did the pic inspire the song or vice versa?
Rock on!

Thanks. Yes - I always use a pick on all my stringed instruments except for bass. And the picture inspired the song :-)
