Hi,

I got a senheiser e906 for Chrstmas and recorded "Thru the Gate" this week.
Seems like a good mic, clear and no background noise. Its flat too so it can be placed right up close to the speaker.

Its just : Geetar > Valve amp > Mic > Br800.
Only FX used were 2 guitar pedals , MI Blues Boy for solo and Cry Baby for the outro lead.

I hope you like it and please leave any recording tips for me .

Cheeeers.  :)

Very nice recorded guitar sounds - tone is strong and very much a valve tone. Lovely.
I would say that the drums need to be a tad louder - they get lost in the mix. And possibly some compression on the bass/eq???? But what I'd say - experiment and get the sound you like - there are no hard and fast rules - and trust your own judgement - you make mistakes along the way, but the more you record, the better you get :-)

Enjoy your new mike!

Great little riff. Enjoyed that.

Great playing and some excellent tones... love that 'just breaking up' valve sound - you can't get that simulated/ modelled. I think it's a good clean recording. My only tinkering would be to pan the guitars out a bit more to give a wider soundscape. Other than that it's fab!

either way a great rocker would love to hear vocals.

Thanks for the helpful tips everyone.Being a member of Songcrafters is really getting my recordings sounding good.
I've uploaded a new improved version of "Thru the Gate" .
Cheers . :)

Hi, great playing mate, very catchy riff. My production work is rubbish so this all sounds fine to me and therefore I offer no advice. Just keep playing you'll know when it's right...........Willie

Nice tube crunch and yep it sounds like a mic'ed up cabinet. Judging from the sound I'd say the e909 works well! You've already got some good advice about drum levels, guitar panning, and bass compression. I agree work with those and see where that takes you. Good playing Bobtail!
