Wow Tim! How do you do it? I came to this with some trepidation, not a favourite song, not a favourite singer, Green Stamps all over it, from the MBR drum programming to the signature Greeny guitar sound.

You have breathed new life into this song, and although I really did not like it back in the 80's this is a stormer.

We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

Hook

Don't know the original but this sounds fabulous. Rough stuff about the fest burn!

Pretty unexpected choice of cover, but talk about making a long likeable...this is so fresh and vibrant.

Lovely backing vocals too.

Excellent, as expected. I don't know the song or artist either, but I sure enjoyed listening to this. And Lucy did a great job on the backing vocals. You should get her to contribute to your songs more often.

Barbara Dixon - well some people used to say I looked like her and sounded like her, in fact some of my friends still call me Barbara! This is a fine cover Tim, you've made it your own as they say on the talent shows. Great backing vox too.

Quote from: oldrottenhead on January 16, 2013, 01:07:59 PMgreat version tim, barbara dickson is actually a very highly respected singer on the scottish folk scene, so that part of her career although most famous, is only a small part of her career. i remember lusting after her on the two ronnies. lol.

great version of a great song tim.

This reminded me BD featured a lot on the documentary about Gerry Raferty, I seem to remember her covering a number of his songs in a more folk style than the originals. Gerry Raferty was 70's..........................

Not familiar with this tune at all either, but sounds good to me.
Agreed - it has the Greeny signature style etched on it.

Congratulations on the BG vox Lucy - well done!
